Fly Mesa Accelerated Pilot Course

At our Mesa AZ location, based at Falcon Field, we offer training for all stages of pilots - Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, Certified Flight Instructor, and more!

One of the questions we get asked the most by individuals looking at starting their flight training is: "How quickly can I become a pilot?"

The answer to this question, naturally, depends on the student and their ability/willingness to study.

Although the average time for someone to earn their private pilot certificate is about 4-6 months, it's not unreasonable to expect a student who is able to commit to the program "full-time" to achieve the same results in only 2-3 months.  This saves you not only time, but a lot of money as well.

Here are a few suggestions that will help speed up your pilot training:
  1. Purchase an online ground school course (like from King Schools, or Sporty's) so you can study at home when it's convenient for you
  2. Complete the ground school and FAA written test BEFORE you begin flight training
  3. Arrange your schedule so you can attend multiple flight lessons each week (3-4 flights / week, at least)
  4. Plan to study at home each day before your next flight for 2-3 hours -- If you show up prepared for the next flight lesson, you can spend more time flying rather than reviewing the material
As you can see, it takes a lot of dedication from the flight student to ensure they progress quickly.  Any preparation you're not able to do at home needs to be done in class... So the more you're able to do at home, the faster you'll be able to advance through your flight training program.
